Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Cinema 4D Workflow

Hello everybody!

I have just started using UE4 and have of course run into the first couple of babystep problems...

First of all: My workflow starts with creating the assets in Cinema 4D. Texturing them, giving them all the UV tags they need and then I export as fbx.

Now. Here is the first problem that I run into:

When I import into UE4 it tells me two things: a) No smoothing group information was found in this FBX scene. Please make sure to enable the 'Export Smoothing Groups' option in the FBX Exporter plug-in before exporting the file. Even for tools that don't support smoothing groups, the FBX Exporter will generate appropriate smoothing data at export-time so that correct vertex normals can be inferred while importing.

and b) "Face material index inconsistency - forcing to 0" and this a thousand times (probably for each polygon in the scene I import)

Now about a) If I first export the file as a .3ds and open it in 3Ds Max and then export it as a .fbx, I do have a possibilty to export smoothing groups and then everything is just dandy... BUT I do not want to have to export everything first to 3Ds Max and then to fbx.... How can I fix this? Anyone have an idea?

Thank you very much! I know that this question has been posed before on other forums but I just cannot find a proper answer...

I have the same problem with mine. It surprises me that Epic Games, or Maxon, haven't come up with an answer yet.

Some one please come up with a fix for this, this is a very big problem.

Same issue here and I don't want to switch from C4D to 3DsMAX (I can't handle it very well) Any news?
