Baked Lighting causes level to become corrupted

Hello!

We have a medium sized game level, and when we bake any type of lighting and save, the game no longer will launch without crashing, and the editor crashes when trying to load the level. We have some Overlapping UV errors of around 50% but would that really cause the whole level/game to corrupt and become unusable?

Im not sure what data to include into this post, so I will give the logs that I get when it crashes.

Here is the Crash Report:

And here is the Editor Log:

Thanks in advance for any help rendered!

Hi Superxcm,

For the logs can you go to this folder and clear it out and then have the level crash again and zip those files up.

This folder location is hidden by default in Windows. So if you have folders hidden it will not be visible. You can access it by going to the start menu and put this file path in the “Run” and it will open up the folder location

File Path: C: / Users / [Computer Name] / AppData / Local / Microsoft / Windows / WER / ReportQue / [There will be a folder in here with the Crash folder, zip this folder up]

As for troubleshooting a little bit, the overlapping UVs shouldn’t be the issue since this is just a lightmap texture that is getting baked light information.

Was there any big changes you made with the level before the building light that you did? For instance, importing some new assets or changing some Blueprints. If this is the case, you may be able to narrow which asset by removing the offending asset from the content folder and seeing if the level will load.

Give these things a shot and let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I’ve not heard from you in a few days. I’m going to mark this as resolved for our tracking purposes. If you’re still having the issue feel free to post here to open this issue back up.

Thank you!

Tim

Hey sorry for the delay, been pretty crazy at work. I will get you those reports first thing in the morning. Thank you so much for answering! Best customer service around I swear.

Thanks again!

And btw, the scene saves and plays fine until I build the lighting and deleting objects doesn’t seem to fix the problem, I will keep trying in the meantime. And send you those reports of course.

Thank you for the kind words and no worries on the delay. We all have busy lives these days!
