Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Editor crashes on startup

I've been working on my RTS Community Project and made some changes to one of the classes. Everything was working till i close the editor yesterday. Today when i try to open, the editor crashes with an error message. I have uploaded the project to Github and you can download it from there.

I'm using version 4.4.3 from the launcher. (Yet the exact same thing happens when using 4.4.0 compiled from github)

The editor doesn't crash for me on startup, however there is an error which is explained here

Hey ryanjon and Thommie,

I wasn't able to reproduce a crash using 4.4.3, as you mentioned, though I do see that same error. Does the crash only occur when using the 4.4 Preview? Does updating to 4.4.3 from GitHub allow the project to open? Ryanjon, if you could please attach the crash logs and dump file for the project, we can start looking into what's causing the crash. Thanks!

Incidentally, selecting all of the nodes in the Update Team section of BP_RTS_Character, right-clicking and selecting Refresh seems to solve the error you're seeing, but then the Failed Import errors appear as described in the forum thread. I'll look into why that's happening, but it doesn't seem to actually affect anything and is probably safe to ignore for now.

Ah yes thanks, it does solve the errors and after reconnecting the links they stay connected. The failed import errors cause the mentioned class to lose most(?) custom settings (it seems only the skeletal mesh remains). This might have something to do with BP_Civilian being referenced in all level blueprints. I removed all references to BP_Civilian and replaced them with BP_RTS_Character, except the ones in the level blueprints. I changed those to BP_Fighter, and upon restarting the editor i get the same Failed Import errors only this time for BP_Fighter.

Hey guys,

If you haven't already, can you try opening a copy of the project in 4.5 Preview to see if the issues persist? There have been some changes to how the engine handles circular dependencies and it may fix the problems you're facing. Let me know how it goes!

I thought I had already done that and encountered the same problem (i just forgot to mention it here). Good news, i was wrong and everything is working again!
