Refraction stopped working when it was previously working

Hello,
I have a couple projects where I use a refraction material to create heat haze look with meshes and sprites. It was working for a while but after yesterday its stopped functioning as before. Well at least I’d just noticed it not working today. I checked to see if I’d turned off anything by accident, and I don’t see anything out of order. Any ideas?

Hmmm I’m looking at this on a different computer and the refraction works, and the level seems to be a lot brighter. I have all my post working, so I wonder if something is happening with the exposure. This is weird, or I’m missing something really obvious. Any ideas?

Can you check your Engine Scalability settings and ensure that it is set to Epic?
