When will Oculus Rift support be ready for OSX?

Just looking for a timetable for when I can start developing for DK2 on my mac. Will it be weeks? Months?

Hi drp5205,

We have seen a lot of trouble from the runtimes and SDKs for the Oculus on Macs. You can use the 4.3.1 version of UE4 with the 0.3 Oculus SDK, but there is a Timeline fix that is not in that version, so it may seem jittery.

We are actually waiting for a fix for the Oculus libraries, as one of the more recent Oculus SDKs caused Mac compatibility to break. Let me know if that helps.

For unrelated reasons I’ve just given the EGUK Guildford DK1 a go on the Mac - provided you have the 0.4.2 Mac OVR runtime installed correctly it should work in 4.5.

Hm. Thanks for your replies. I’m a student working on a lab computer, so I can’t change the version we have installed. As well, I’m running a DK2, would that work in 4.5?

You can add additional builds of the engine using the + button at the top of the Library. We are currently waiting for Oculus to release an update for the DK2 libraries so that the DK2 will be Mac compatible with UE4 4.5. Once it is fixed on their side, we will be able to integrate it properly.

Have Oculus given any timeline for when they think that might happen?

Personally I have not heard anything about it from them. It is likely a concern, as the OSX market is quite large. Oculus does have a developer forum section for asking questions and providing feedback if you would like to ask them directly.

Ive asked oculus precisely this question in the past few weeks and getting a muted resoponse.

“Let me asked the guys about this, never heard of this issue” followed by: “they still havent got back to me, let me ask them again” two weeks later.
