Why does a spot light go out when close to the FPS player when your using the Oculus rift

In a game I am making for the Oculus rift. I have a an ball that hovers above a table just in front of the player. It is used as a a mouse icon. It has a spot light the shines from underneath it onto the table. It works great when not testing with the Oculus rift but when I do the light goes out once it get close to the player. When I move it way it turns back on again. I am using blueprints but I do have anything set up that would turn it off or on. It should always stay on. Any ideas?
