Installing UDK on Mac?

So, according to the software and hardware specifications located here, the UDK should run on a Mac for actual game development and not just running a UDK developed game. So, when looking to download the UDK for a Mac, I can not for the life of me find a place to download it anywhere on the website. I can only find where to download it for Windows and that’s it. Being unfamiliar with Macs to begin with (as I’ve only really ever dealt with Windows, especially for game development), I feel as though I am missing something obvious. I have scoured the website and the internet and have not found anything on downloading and/or installing the UDK for Mac. Any assistance with this would be awesome.

Hi Kira,

Unfortunately, UDK is not available for Mac. UDK is provided free via UDK.com and is only available for Windows.

The information you’ve linked above is the hardware specifications for the Unreal Engine 4, which does support Mac.

For any general questions our FAQ on UnrealEngine.com should help.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Okay. That’s fine. I suppose my next question would be… is there a free educational license version of UE4 or do you have to get a subscription? I am looking into teaching a basic game development class and don’t want to pay for 12 licenses for a short class. I know UDK had a educational student license available for free, but I’m not seeing much information on UE4 in this regard.

Nevermind. I have found it!

I’m linking the Educational Information sign up page here along with the section on our Forums for students and educators to ask questions if you have anything that is a specific concern.

Thank you!

Tim
