Wheel and Tire Animation

I’m thinking about doing some animations for my vehicles, but I am unsure on how many key frames to make each animation. the animations I’m thinking about is

wheel spinning animation
tire distortion animation (flat tire, Tire under load, tire shack, tire stretch)
suspension animation (using radius rods with solid beam axles)
steering wheel animation

any help about this would be appreciated as I’m thinking others would also like to know for there own car games.

I’m not sure what you mean by wheel spinning and suspension animation since wheels already spin and suspensions work if you make a vehicle. You will also see more advanced vehicle sample with 4.5 next week.

Yeah I have downloaded the 4.5 preview. if you look at the vehicle game epic made to show the 4.2 version it has semi advance suspension. but when 4.2 was released the question was asked about tire distortion like in UDK. and the answer was given that, if you want tire distortion you will need to animate it yourself.

Yeah, tire distortion is something you’ll have to figure out outside of vehicle system.

Btw, here you can see an overview of how to handle steering wheel or gear shift animations: Challenger - Blueprint Setup - YouTube

Thankyou Jacky for the link, It has given me some more ideas on what ue4 can do and what else I can do to make my game better.

On the Tire distortion the question was asked, how many frames will the animation need to be. so I can give it a go.
