Reverb Tails Getting Cut Off

I have set up a Reverb Zone with a Reverb Effect attached and the reverb sound itself only seems to play for about 1 second or roughly the length of the file before being cut off. Even if the reverb tail is dense and should be 20 seconds long

I have set up two test projects with various settings for the Reverb Effect and Zone and still have this issue. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello JackMenhorn,

I set up a test level with a “Reverb Effect” and “Reverb Volume” attached to the effect. I also went into the effect and scaled up the reverb settings so it is an apparent sound you are hearing. Try following these steps and using the images attached to ensure your reverb effect is working properly in the project you are using.

  1. Create a new project with the default First Person Shooter Bluepring
  2. Go into your content browser and select new.
  3. Under the dropdown box go to sounds and select “Reverb Effect”
  4. Name the effect whatever you wish.
  5. Now go into the “Modes” tab and create a new “Reverb Volume” under the volumes option by pulling it into your level.
  6. Be sure the bounds of the “Reverb Volume” are around your level.
  7. Within the details panel of the “Reverb Volume” under the “Reverb Effect” option choose the drop down box and select the “Rever Effect” you created.
  8. Be sure the check box that says “Apply Reverb” is checked!
  9. Now go into your reverb settings and get them to match the settings in the image attached.
  10. Select Play and walk into the volume bounds and fire your weapon to listen for the reverberation.

Let me know if these steps helped you at all or if you are still experiencing the issue!

Thank you,

Hi Andrew.

Thank you for your response to my issue, and apologies for my delay in getting back to it.

I have followed your steps and created a new project and used your reverb effect settings and still the tails are cut off on my reverb effects. Your walkthrough, while detailed and easy to follow; has not fixed my issue.

I am on OSX if that makes any difference. This issue showed up while I was on Mavericks and now im on Yosemite.

Here is a video showing off the issue and showing that I am using the settings suggested above: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16341299/UE4_ReverbIssue_01_JackMenhorn.mov

Tested my project on a Windows machine and there was no issue. OSX might be the culprit here.

Hi JackMenhorn,

We’ve tested this on our Mac here and were able to reproduce the issue using the example set up. I’ve since generated a bug report [UE-4931] Should this be addressed in a future build, an update will be added to this thread.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

This report has been updated and while this specific bug is not going to be addressed, a new feature is going to be introduced to the engine which will rectify this issue.

I am wondering if the new feature has been implemented, and what it is? I am working on a project and encountering this issue as well.

Hi Mantalayer,

It’s not exactly a new feature but the way sound for a reverb effect has essentially been overhauled. Before, you would choose a Reverb Volume from the “Modes” menu and select the Reverb Effect you created. Now you choose an Audio Volume and select the Reverb Effect you created.

Following this workflow, I tried to recreate the initial issue and was not able to. Please provide repro steps with images of the settings you are using for your reverb effect and I’ll try and recreate the issue you’re having and report it as a bug if reproducible.

-Thanks

Is there any news concerning this issue? I have the same problem on OSX and more than a year passed by now! I tried different own reverb settings as well as the reverb presets like “large hall” etc.

Thanks!

Hi! I am also having this same issue on OSX. Is there a solution to fix this problem?

Hi wpost,

I was not able to reproduce this using Content Examples>Audio Map>1.9 Audio Volume Sample. ie. Reverb working as expected. Please test this example available for free download from the Learn tab on the Launcher.

Also, I was testing in OSX 10.10.5; Are you in Yosemite or?

.

bgm also have reverb effect on this way
