Hide mesh with an emissive material?

Hello,

I would like to use an emissive white sahder on a plane to light a room.
But i would like to know if there is a way to hide the “plane” and just keep the emissive part ?

Thanks !

If the plane isn’t going to be seen outside a window you can use it to bounce light or emit light. If you want to hide it I would recommend using spot lights and setting the cone to 85 and the intensity down just to get that right lighting.

Okay, so it’s impossible right ? (to hide a mesh and keep his “emissive”).
But thanks for the trick !

I have an exterior scene with a house. I try to find a way to fake this interior and get a cool effect from these windows.
The translucent material are completely bad with reflections. So, I can’t just put a glass shader and boost the reflectivity/specular.
Right now, I just did a metal reflective, like a mirror. But it’s looking a bit cheap.

You understand that the light maps and lighting for a scene isn’t affected by emissive textures. It will add bloom to the camera but not light anything. So what are you trying to achieve with emissive?

All my windows are double layered for that reason. How the light shines through in this scene you can’t much tell, but just about 90% of the time if I use a translucent material it’s always backed by another material

Okay, good to know. I will try this !
I’m really waiting an update for this translucent material.
It’s a real pain… Even with water…

This is incorrect… with LPV enabled the objects emmisve can and will light other meshes…
he would simply need to adjust the scale and injection of the LPV through the post processing volume…
