Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

UE4 isn't launching

Hey guys when I went to use UE4 today it won't launch and I have no idea why. I've never had any issues running it on this computer before. I checked the processes running on my computer and found that when I try to launch the UE4 process starts but then immediately ends. Any ideas?

Hey TheGreatBerserker-

Are you able to open the launcher but not the engine or is this occurring when trying to open the launcher itself?

Sorry I forgot to specify, that would be the launcher itself.

I would suggest simply trying to restart the computer first. If that doesn't help then follow the steps at the following link to get the DXDiag and logs from your computer to help investigate.

Alright I'll give this a shot.

Restarted and I'm still getting the same problem, I'll check out that link you posted.

Should I attach the DXDiag or copy/paste them in a comment?

Hey TheGreatBerserker-

It would be best if you attached them. Also include the verbose logs as well as part of a zip file. For the time being, you may want to open the task manager and check the processes tab to ensure that UE4Editor.exe is not running and then try launching again.

Cheers

Okay I'll get that stuff together and post it, and yes it isn't running in the processes tab of the task manager.

I can't get the launcher to get me the error messages I need to get my verbose logs

Hey TheGreatBerserker-

IF you're unable to get the verbose logs then navigate to the following folder path and look for log files in there, we will need these logs instead. The file path is: C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\UnrealEngineLauncher\Saved\Logs
