Best practice for quickly updating maps for team whiteboxing?

My team is in the whiteboxing stage but our level designer would like to be able to quickly iterate over the map layout by making changes, having the rest of the team join a networked game and explore the map, make comments and so on, and ideally our level designer would be able to make small changes and quickly have us rejoin with the new map. However it seems anything short of rebuilding the server and client will cause crashes (for example, putting the new map in the client’s game files and attempting to restart the client), is there a good way to quickly update a map without repackaging the game every time?
