HELP! Can't paint texture in Landscape mode

Hello,

I am new to UE4 and I am sure I am doing something wrong but, for the love of god , I can’t figure it our.
basically after creating my landscape, when I switch to paint, nothing shows up under Target Layer, nor does it let me add anything to it. even though the interactive tutorial says “click on the plus sign”. well, I would if could…

anyhow this is what I did:

Open the editor (either 4.4.3 or 4.5) and selected Blank project
deleted all the junk that on the viewport
created a new landscape with the default settings and assigned the default grass material that came with the initial content.
now I can sculpt and do pretty much whatever I want, EXCEPT painting over it. it wont let me!!

please help… this is driving me up the wall.

Your material has to be a “landscape” material → (1st part of the video) After that assign it to the landscape - click onto the plus in the paint mode - create a layer - paint onto it (Ctrl+Left Mouse Button) :slight_smile:

ah ha!!! I knew something ain’t right. :slight_smile:
