Errors in show output log after UE 4 Crashed..I thought

Bug report I believe. Please note. I have little to no experience in programming or graphics. But, I am learning. I am not certain this is a bug so I have tried to take the best notes to paste here to help out.

Branch: ‘Binary’ (I think) I click the icon on my desktop and Launch 4.5.0 comes up on the left, and Engines and my projects are on the right.

Build version: 4.5.0-2326478+++depot+ue4 - release+4.5

Detailed description of the issue:
Please see errors1 and 2 .png for errors
Screenie1.png shows nested borders if I was not clear in explaining what I was doing when crashes started.
I saw this error in the “show output log”. I started seeing it when I was working on a test menu. Reason for opening log, I had nested Border objects and UE crashed now and then… I had not had a crash up until i started nesting borders. BTW: adding buttons to the top and the buttom of the scroll bar would REALLY help in finer control of the scroll thru that MASS of info in the log.

Errors1.jpg shows “Failed to begin reading…” in all projects tested.
I think green lines are ok… they also appear in all projects tested
errors2.jpg shows “failed to find object…” and “Metadata mismatch…”
Screenie1.png shows original shows nested borders I was setting up.

Repro Steps:
After finding errors in my original project (Claws) log file, I made a new project calling it Claws2 and deleted the canvas then added one border below root in the hierarchy window… and clicked launch. I looked at the output log. Same error… so I made a new project (Claws testing), and didn’t touch anything, clicked launch and read the log. Same error. I made a another project called Fred ( just so it had a different name, (In case something was getting cross linked) and had same error. All projects were Third person blueprint, desktop/console, Max quality, with starter content.

Let us know, does the issue occur 100% of the time for you with these steps? Or does it happen less frequently?
It happens every time I launch the project

System Specs: See attached DXDIAG. Please.

Attachments: I could not find a crash log at C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.0\Engine\Programs\CrashReportClient\Saved\Logs. I got as far in the directory as C:\Program Files and there is no unreal, but, I don’t install in the root drive most of the time. E:\Program Files\Unreal Engine was empty. D:\Program Files was empty of unreal engine but I found D:\Epic Games\4.5\Engine\Programs but I could not find the remainder of the directory Programs\CrashReportClient\Saved\Logs.
So, I did a search for CrashReportClient and found an old directory from 4.0 in E:\Github blah blah blah… should not have not have anything in it that I am using now in it.

Please advise

Hey Tarly,

I’m looking into old unfinished issues. Are you still having trouble with this?

Yes… I am now using 4.5.1 (Will update to newest Feb. 2nd or around then. I have included the above screenie. Please let me know if I can be of any more help/

Respectfully,

Cliff

So, just to summarize:

1: Your original 4.5 project crashed periodically due to nested UMG borders.

2: You noticed that after the crashes, you began seeing the “MetaData Mismatch” warning in any project you had or created.

You’re concerned about the warning and want to know if it’s something to worry about, and what you can do about it if so. Is that correct?

Hey Tarly,

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m marking this question as resolved. We can reopen the issue if you come back and answer my above questions.

Regards,

Jonathan

well, it would be nice if the only thing I heard from you is ? are you still having troubles… I say yes I less than three hours after getting the response from you. MAYBE not closing this and asking me for any info you need would help. Really let down that the only two responses I have gotten are “Are you still having this issue?” then closing it. Even though I responded yes. I have not pestered you with "Well? blah blah blah " as I see the number of issues that go through here… but to close my report with nothing being done because I have not responded… .esp. when I have, HACKS me off.

This is not my fault. Wait…I see a response from you that I never got an email to notify me you had responded… MY BAD. In response to your Dec, 12th 2014 question. Yes. You are 1000% correct.

Cliff

Okay, if you’re getting the ‘metadata mismatch’ error, but it isn’t interfering with your ability to use the engine, I wouldn’t worry about it. However, this thread implies that the metadata mismatch would prevent you from cooking projects.

If that is a potential problem, first you should try Verifying your engine install. In the Launcher, click the little down-arrow next to “Launch” underneath the engine version you’re using. If Verifying the engine doesn’t work, you may be forced to wipe the “appdata\local\unreal engine” folder and reinstall, as described in the thread. That should only be a last resort, however.

OK… not an issue for me… but, since it showed errors… thought you might want to know/fix it… I am good. TY for the time
