Highresshot crash - Play in New Window

Hi everyone.

UE4 crashes when I take a screenshot using “highresshot “x””. I’ve tried different multipliers and everything. Here is the log.

Hey Beefaroni -

I want to check for my reproduction, are you PIE or using Standalone Game? and I know you said you used multiple different X values, but can you give me a range does it crash with a x=2 or does it start at a particular integer like everything high than x=6 causes crashs?

Thank You -

Eric Ketchum

I have Play > “New Editor Window” selected.

It happens at any value, 2,3,4,etc…

I have Play > “New Editor Window” selected.

Hi -

Can you still take high res screenshots from the Editor’s Drop-down tabs in the Editor’s viewport or does this also cause a crash?

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

I can; however, the lighting and shadows don’t work properly. Some lighting doesn’t load and some shadows artifact. Right now, I am relying on matinee movies to take a screenshot.

Hey beefaroni -

Can you upload a copy of your computer’s DXDIAG?

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

Yep. If it helps, this problem only began in 4.5. 4.3 and 4.4 were fine.

Hey beefaroni -

We’ve been trying to reproduce this crash and have thus far been unsuccessful. I wanted to check in and see if after the 4.5.1 Hotfix does the crash still occur.

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

Yes, it still occurs. I have started a new scene now. I will update.

I am still experiencing crashes even with a brand new scene.

Hey beefaroni -

I have asked our engineers to look into this issue for you directly. As soon as I hear back I will let you know, for reference UE-5244.

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

Looks like it’s fixed on my end. I recently reformatted and re-installed unreal engine so unfortunately I can’t tell you exactly what was wrong
