How do I report a bug?

I have discovered an issue with Editor or with another component of Unreal Engine 4, and I would like to report it to Epic.

How should I do this?

Thank you for helping to improve Unreal Engine!

Please remember to always Search AnswerHub first, to see if your issue has already been reported.

If you issue has not been previously reported, then please report all bugs here on UE4 AnswerHub. To do so, click on Post a Question. Set the ‘Section’ to Bug Reports.

Please make a new report for each separate bug, and use following format whenever you are able:

Build Type: Is this a ‘Binary’ build from Unreal Launcher, or a ‘Source’ build from GitHub?

Build version: version number of Unreal Engine which you are currently experiencing issue on. For example: 4.0.1 - 2027741 (This is found in editor under Help > About Unreal Editor)

Detailed description of issue: Please remember to include all potentially relevant information, such as whether you have confirmed that issue is occurring with default settings, or if it is only with your custom project. If you have experienced a crash, then Crash Reporter window will appear and prompt you to submit crash information. Please submit information, but also please use Copy to Clipboard function, and paste results in your AnswerHub post. This will allow our support staff to quickly track down crash details.

Screenshots/Link to video: We encourage you to include screenshots or link to videos whenever they may prove helpful in understanding issue.

Repro Steps

  1. Action 1 (example: Open an Actor Blueprint)
  2. Action 2 (example: Add an ‘Event Begin Play’ node to EventGraph)
  3. Action 3 (example: Connect above to a ‘Print String’ node)
  4. Etc.

Let us know, does issue occur 100% of time for you with these steps? Or does it happen less frequently?

System Specs: (When needed - generally for rendering or performance issues) Tell us your operating system, your CPU, RAM, Graphics Card, and anything else which may be of importance. Feel free to attach your DXDIAG.

Attachments: If your bug is easily reproduced with a specific content asset, then we welcome you to upload a simple test FBX or .uasset which we can test with.

If you are experiencing a crash, then please provide us with the .LOG and .DMP files that are generated during crash. Go to this link for details on locating different types of log files: A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums

Once again, thank you very much for your help in reporting these issues!

Hi Piinecone,

How do we determine which .log files are useful in ~/Library/Logs/Unreal Engine/(project name)Editor/ ?

Excellent question, we want to see logs that were generated at time of crashes. If logs are relatively same and reproduction steps are known, then extra logs are not necessary.

I’ll update that information now too.

Thank you!

Thanks piinecone! I’ve updated post to include current location for Log files. most recent log file will contain all information we need.

http://gyazo.com/25786fe65224eec9839ce021f8639b32.png is location i installed UE4 launcher. I had it installed seeveral times, rebooted and even tried installing in default location.

There is no problem with editor or any projects. I am using UE4 source so i don’t care about downloading binary files. My problem is with downloading project files on marketplace which should be in vault. they stop halfway
