Forgot to mention. That’s in 4.5.1.

Tried it today after restarting. Still automatically crashes. I can’t get any work done.

Hello SuperDuperYeah,

I have attempted to reproduce your crash multiple times with different meshes, but with no luck. One question is how large or how many polys/verts are on the mesh you are attempting to import?

Hello Andrew ! Can I send you the mesh I was trying to import/reimport (it’s a very simple model) via email ? It says “This attachment is not permitted because the file type is invalid.”

Of course! You can zip it up in a folder and submit it that way. If it is too larger then we suggest using dropbox instead and you can provide us with a link.

Hey here’s the model !

I continued to test with the model and did a general “merge” in Maya. Imported it and it worked. I’m just highly curious why this model would instantly crash UE4 on clicking import (open faces ? Zero length vertices ?). There’s definitely something that UE4 doesn’t like in it.

Hello again SuperDuperYeah,

So I attempted to import the model you linked and I was indeed not able to import it. I pulled the mesh into Max and deleted the verts on the back of your mesh that seem to be extra. See image as reference:

Re-export your mesh being sure turbosmooth option is unchecked in the export options.

Importing your mesh should work instantly now. What was happening is that the engine was attempting to map those verts and was getting caught in an endless loop. I hope this helped!

Because you were getting a consistent crash we would like to submit a bug report for your issue. Did you submit your crash report when you experienced the crash or did you just copy the callstack?

I ask because in our crash log database I cannot locate your crash, so if you could reproduce your crash and submit a report we can go ahead and move forward with bugging your issue.

Alright ! I’m doing it right now. I posted many crash reports (above 10). I’ll do it again.

I just sent a crash report ! Hope this will help you stabilizing this awesome engine :).
