Failed to generate code project files for "..."

Hi there! Just got the new UDK. I’m trying to generate a Code project. Sadly this isn’t working out for me as it gives me the error in the question. Failed to generate code project files for “path here”.

Blueprints seem to load up fine.

Is it because I don’t currently have 2013 VS on this computer? Doesn’t seem like it would be required to simply generate the static code.

You need Visual 2013 Express for Desktop at least, in order to compile your C++ project, or any Code-based project

You should also have installed VS first, before installing UE4.

at the very least, try installing Visual right now and then restart this process :slight_smile:

I’m having this same problem despite having VS2012 and VS2013 installed.

I have VS 2012 installed. Still the issue persists.

I had this same issue. I finally got it working by compiling and running the editor from the source. Not sure if this is the best solution for you but it worked for me.

This information has changed slightly, you will want to download VS 2013 express, the engine no longer runs on 2012.

Yup having this issue here too, I thought Id just try the obvious solution and installing express 2013 but it doesnt fix the issue. I have 2012 ultimate installed also, this is starting to become a trend, I had tremendous issues just getting VS2012 all working with rocket.
