Rent perforce server and visual studio plugin

2 questions if I may:

  1. I don’t want to waste time to manage my own server with Perforce, I found this one Source Code Management Pricing & Tiered Plans | Assembla but it is really expensive (only 5GB for 24$ ). Any deals somewhere?
let’s say that im forced to make my own server, what is the required hardware for a small team? let’s say that I would use azure Pricing Calculator | Microsoft Azure

  2. I know that there is a Perforce plugin for visual studio, I am supposed to use that since im a coder while artists will use the integrated one or we both use the Unreal integrated Perforce service?

Not sure what the best deal is for your first question. We hosted our via Amazon Web services, which gives you free access to a very basic server with limited space and bandwidth. You can always expand your service as you go. Good source control is definitely worth investing in, though.

You should use the P4 plugin for Visual Studio. I don’t think you need to, but it’ll make your life easier. Artists will need the P4V client installed, and then just configure the editor to connect to your server.
