Will run Unreal engine 4 development kit on Macbookair?

Hi i plannnin use Unreal engine4 engine on my macbook air. it has 4GB ram.

I do not want to do Heavy rendering or Mega project. It will be just for simple&small iOS game app.
I’d read System requirement at payment page and It tells me need 8GB ram.
Should I buy new mac system for develop iOS product?
I had stopped at the subscription plan screen. geez.

someone help me please.

Our attempts to run UE4 on MacBook Air found that it ran but was extremely slow. We definitely wouldn’t recommend it for use. Even with simple content on-screen, the Unreal Editor interface itself requires enough GPU performance to bring a MacBook Air to single-digit frame rates.

The most important system component for editor performance is the GPU. That’s why we recommend a desktop computer with a good discrete GPU.

Oh god Minalien you’re the true savior of me!
Thank you for sharing. I’ll wait for your answer. ^_-

oh just a little frustrated, but thank you for answer anyway.
I have Intel PC too with nice nvidia GPU card which used for PC platform online game development. My old workhorse have new sandbox to play now.

keep up good engine and I wish your UE4 engine’s prevail&prosperity.
every single developer in game field overwhelmed news of UE4’s new subscription plan today.

While I would not expect it to be officially supported, I am downloading it to test on my mid-2013 Macbook Air (it’s all I have on me here at GDC). I will happily post an update here and tell you how well it seems to run. ^-^

BTW, it runs well on MacBook Pro with Nvidia graphics in them.

Running on my Air 1.7 Ghz Intel Core i4 with 4gb of RAM is a no go.

I know this is an older post, but has anyone tried it with the new 10.11 El Capitan update?

MacBook Air just factory reset and the downloader crashes before installing. Anything I can do to fix this?

It need atleast 8gb of RAM and 2gb svidja gforce graphic card otherwise engine may not run well and it works very slow
