4.5.1 Deferred decals stretching

I was watching a tutorial on how to setup some deferred decals in my level, but when I went to do it myself, I noticed somethings strange.

When I went to drop the decal in my level, this is what I saw:

I did not do anything to the dimensions. I simply clicked the “Visuals” tab and dropped a deferred decal in the level. To make sure that this was only in 4.5.1, I went ahead and did the same thing in 4.4.3, and this is what I got:

So clearly something’s wrong in 4.5.1. It’s not my project either. I set up a new blank project in 4.5.1 and just dropped a decal in the level with the same results. The dimensions are way off or something.

Thanks guys for all you do! I love Unreal. Just please fix this problem.

It’s not a bug. You just need to rotate it on Y axis until the decal lines up with the surface the way you like.

Why is it dropped in the level like that? Shouldn’t it start with it’s normal pointing up? It was like that in 4.4.3.

Hello MathNerdProductions,

Whenever you pull in a Deferred Decal into your game, which ever-way the arrow is pointing is the way the decal is being projected. You want that arrow to point at the surface you are applying the decal.

Thanks,

Seems very strange indeed. Did loose a few hours on this, too.
