Starting with version 4.2 and up to the latest version 4.5 remained a problem with the installation of your icons for the project.
The source of the problem is the file: UE4Game-Win32-Shipping.exe it sets the default icon.
After changing the resource file and the trial package of the project, the problem disappeared.
While the problem has not been eliminated recommend to use program for editing resources *.exe to install an icon for your project.

UE-1274 was fixed in 4.6.
It is still existent in 4.25.4
