Scale, Rotate, Cursor not Centered with Mesh

Hello!

Almost every time I import a mesh into UE4, my scale, rotate, and transport cursor is not centered with my mesh. Its makes it really annoying to position my meshes correctly.

I import from Blender 3D, this doesn’t happen to ALL meshes, but like 70% of the time…

Does anyone know how to…like “snap” the 3D cursor back to the center of my mesh?

Thank you!
Justin

Hi,

Before you export you mesh from Blender or any other 3D modeling software you’ll want to make sure that it’s the meshes pivot is centered at the world origin of 0,0,0. If your mesh is off-centered from this UE4 will see the world origin of the FBX as the pivot. not the mesh.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Tim

Excellent! Thank you so much! Everyone on the UE4 team has been such a big help since I bought this software!

No problem at all. We’re always glad to help. If we can help you make awesome games then we’ve done our job!

okay so if I purchased an asset and it’s off, does that mean I wasted my money? Cause this is really annoying, all the meshes in this pack are off centered.

Depends on where you bought them from and how the meshes were setup for their purpose.

Did you buy it off the Epic Games Marketplace, if so what pack and I can take a look at it when I’m in the office tomorrow.

If it wasn’t on the Epic Games Marketplace then I wouldn’t jump the conclusion that you’ve wasted money per se, it would just require the use of a modeling program to place the pivot where you want or place a dummy object in your scene and make any mesh under it the child so that the pivot will be the dummy object. If that’s confusing I can do an example tomorrow to better explain.
