Particle Emitter - Mesh Rotation Rate / Life

Hello!

I’ve been trying to make “mesh rotation rate over life” (or * life) module to work for the past hour and it doesn’t affect the mesh no matter which settings I use (as well as scale). The only other module which seems to be working is “initial rotation rate” (when it comes to rotation). Maybe I’m missing something obvious or I acquired terminal down syndrome in the past hour trying to make it work.
My goal is being able to control the rotation of the mesh over it’s life (and I want to do it within particle system), with different rates (or rotations) at different points in curve editor.

Hey tooner -

This is a known issue with these modules and our engineers are investigating this issue, for reference UE-2944.

Thank You for your report and as soon as I hear anything I will let you know -

damm I wasted an hour here :stuck_out_tongue:

Any ETA for this being fixed?

Thanks

Hey Dredok -

Currently the issue is backlogged and I do not have any current timeline as many of our engineers are working on the newest implementation of the Particle System Editor, Niagara.

Thank You

Eric Ketchum

Hey there,

Do you have any news or possible workarround for this issue? Some games in ue4 do seem to have this solved. e.g. Everspace.

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

ERuts

Update: Initial mesh rotation rate can be used as a workarround. It also works for non mesh emmitters, intitial rotation rate is available for these.

King regards,

ERuts

Ok well, it’s been 3 years now. Did you guys get around to fixing something as important and obvious as rotating particle meshes over their lives? Or is that “backlogged” still?

And yes, the annoyance and cynicism is intentional. I can’t even believe you “backlogged” something like this. I can’t believe it’s a bug that even got out the door, let alone that you let it sit for how many years now? Embarrassing.
