Matinee - selecting several keys

hello, i hope this hasnt been asked before, it seems such a simple thing that i hope i didnt overread it… i have my matinee set up and want to move several keys at once - do i really have to shift-click each one? is there a marquee tool or something else that would make this easier?

-in general, is there a way to stretch/shorten the entire matinee (changing the speed of a fly-thru) without adjusting each individual key?

as always, thank you for your help!

Ctrl + Alt + mouse drag marquee selects the keys on a keyframe. Also, you can set the section you want to stretch with the green arrows in the timeline and then select Stretch Section.

When I’m doing this, after selecting Stretch section nothing happens at all; same for selected keyframes.

Could you please hint at what should happen further?

I’m not sure why it wouldnt work. Could you please upload a blank project that replicates this so that i can take a look?

Hey Jacky, tnx for the brief answer.

It’s quite an uniform issue, not sure if a blank project is needed. I simply have an objects which moves and rotates (via a single Movement track). I want to change the timing (speed) of a certain portion of this movement.

WTR:

  1. I select all the keyframes responsible for the portion
  2. I click Edit/Stretch Section
  3. Nothing happens; layout and keyframes remain as they were in stage 1.

I’m not even sure if I’m doing this right and what should I get at (3). Should there be a popup with a new timing? Should I drag the selected keyframes after that somehow? The problem is, the documentation says nothing on the expected result, and I cannot check if somethig actually doesn’t work or if I’m just doing it wrong.

What i understand is you are selecting the keyframes and then choosing Stretch Section option? If that is the case you need to select Stretch Selected Key Frames option and it will pop up a new text bar to enter New Time. It should show you that text bar nonetheless though so maybe it is showing up in another monitor if you are working with multiple screens, or you may just be missing it since it is black and gray and likely to blend in with Matinee UI. Let us know how it goes and make sure to replicate and upload a sample project if it still doesnt work so that we can turn this into a bug report for Epic to test.

Hey Jacky,

Many thanks! Turns out I merely missed this tiny window all the time (because of high resolution), – then again, after selecting the option I tried clicking and dragging etc., thus closing the popup without noticing it.

So this is purely a minor UI issue.

Tnx again!

thanks. it works like charm.
