Error during installation, code 2738

Really hoping to resolve this tonight.

Here is the error I am getting. Basically I go to install, I tell it to install to the suggested directory, and from there it gives me this.

Can you please try re-downloading it?

heck yea I can! Thanks for the quick response, sorry if you’ve heard this a hundred times already.

Will report back shortly. (:

Hi SpacemanChuck,

Hmm, are you trying to install to the root directory on a drive? If so that is known issue that we’re currently working on.

Carlos

I’m installing here. C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\

Also, can you try running the following and posting the log file generated?

msiexec /i UnrealEngineInstaller.msi /L*V UnrealEngineInstallerLog.txt

Thanks!

I have windows 8 that I haven’t installed yet. Would it run on win 8 any better?

We support Windows 7 & 8/8.1 64bit, so as long as your on Windows 7 64bit you shouldn’t have to. Can you post your dxdiag as well if you get a chance? Thanks!

Sorry game artist here, not sure what dxdiag is…

also will need instructions on how this.

msiexec /i UnrealEngineInstaller.msi /L*V UnrealEngineInstallerLog.txt

How to run this rather.

Oh, no worries!

For dxdiag, hit “WindowsKey”+R, then type “dxdiag” in the text field, it will open up a new window, then hit the “Save All Info” button on the bottom and post it on here.

Same goes for the "msiexec " command, tho I believe you will have to add the directory path to the UnrealEngineInstaller.msi file (or go there with a commandprompt first).

Cant’s seem to work out the msiexec part. can you spell it out for me?

Any update Carlos? Can’t get you the msiexec without a bit more of a walk through.

Sure thing, just run Windows key +R again, and this time out the msiexec command I posted (just put your full path to the installer). So if the installer was on the root C:\ drive you would hit Windows+R, then type:

msiexec /i C:\UnrealEngineInstaller.msi /L*V UnrealEngineInstallerLog.txt

Ahh, got ya.

I’m not sure if I’m doing this wrong but I don’t get a file I can send you from this… It just opens a window.

Also is there any idea about what’s actually going on with this. This eating up a lot of time…

Can you copy/paste the commandline you used exactly and also tell me what folder your .msi installer is in? With that info I’ll be able to walk you through the process of getting the log file.

I am getting the same problem except it says error 2755. I am using Windows 7. I tried to install to other directories and have had no luck.
