Low FPS after installing Unreal Engine

Hello every one I have a problem which I don’t know how to resolve
I have got iMac 27 (later 2013), i5 3.4GHz, 8 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB, 1TB HDD and I using windows 7 ult 64 bit 1sp (latest updates) via Boot Camp

Windows: when I installed Unreal Engine 4.4.3 , any games (from steam and blizzard) which I instaled in windows start showing low FPS and windows work slowly then it was before I instaled Unreal Engine, I have tried reinstall Windows and Unreal Engine and every time same problem. ( also have tried instal windows 8.1 pro 64 bit and same proble as windows 7 low FPS and work system slow)

Mac OS: Also I have tried instal unreal engine 4.4.3 on Mac OS Yosemite 10.10 (latest update) and I have got same games as windows and everything perfect don’t have low FPS in games and Mac work quick as every time.
I apologise for my limited English hopefully everyone understand and will help me:)

Thank you very much!**

Boot camp graphics drivers aren’t known to be terribly optimized, it’s not surprising that you are seeing a performance drop when doing things that depend on GPU a lot really.

Hi Funny1,

How much space do you have on your Windows partition? Is it possible you’re approaching limit of that partition’s space? Having engine installed shouldn’t interfere with your FPS in other programs if engine is not currently running, but if Windows partition doesn’t have much space left on it that might be causing this problem.

Incidentally, 4.6 should run much faster than 4.4 on Yosemite, so you might want to consider upgrading your Mac engine version once we put out 4.6 Release (coming soon!). You can read a bit more on that here:

Hello
Overall space on Windows 400gb and free space 285gb (installed everything what I need), Unreal Engine using when closed every programs on system and also games using when closed everything.

Maybe but I have tried many games which is running on Windows and Mac OS and FPS was same as every time in both system and don’t have any problems like this until I installed Unreal Engine on Windows.

Hi Funny1,

Sorry for delay in response, but we don’t have any explanation for why this might be occurring. Are sure that both engine and launcher are being completely shut down? Check your processes on Windows when you see this happening and see what is draining your memory.

Hi .

All right one month gone)))
Yes I have shut down both programs and stil have low fps seems like when I installing UE he make change on Windows and I more recon this problem is Bootcamp dont have optimization for Mac, mean drivers. I have interested to ask anyone who have Bootcamp and he using UE, and how it works.

Okay, I don’t think there’s anything being installed with engine that would affect your system’s FPS while engine and launcher are not running. Can you tell me what is eating up your GPU and memory? We don’t test for running on Bootcamp, unfortunately, so there isn’t a lot we can do to reproduce issue, but I had no issue with mine.

Hey Funny1,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this post as resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still having this issue, please let us know what is eating up your GPU and memory while UE4 and Launcher are not running. Thanks!

Could you tell me how to check what using my GPU? I have trying to find on internet nothing found. Or can you just give me step by step what to do please
Thank you

You can grab any GPU monitor from internet. For now, though, please run Task Manager, and grab a screenshot of Processes tab for me. Make sure that system is currently running as slow as you’ve described.

I update to latest windows updates this year and right now I don’t have any problems. Thank you for your support.
