Shadows in Unreal for OSX not showing correctly

Hi,

I have copied a project from Windows to my . It’s the first time I try Unreal for OSX. In Windows everything worked perfectly, but in Mac shadows are showing like this:

Building lights does not solve the problem and I don’t know what to do.

( I don’t know if it’s relevant or not, but the second time I opened the project, Unreal started compiling gradients and crashed at the end. )

Any chance you could provide the system specifications for your Mac?  > About This Mac > System Report > File > Save will generate a system profile for your machine that would be ideal.

I’ve not seen that kind of corruption before so that’s most peculiar. Can you reproduce it in any of the Epic sample projects or is it just your own? It will be much easier to track this down if you can provide a cut-down sample that exhibits this issue.

I’ve realize that those shadows are generated by Point Lights, because Focus Lights generate the shadows correctly.

I’ve tried these lights in a new project with a template created in this Mac and firstly they don’t show correctly, but once I build the lights, they are okay:

And I tried in another project taken from my Windows PC and I even can’t build the lights because somethings get crazy and Unreal crashes, as you can see in this video:

So maybe the problem is related to the operative system or I don’t know…

EDIT: It only happens when “Cast shadows” is marked. But in Windows it was also marked and it was not happening.

I’ve filed this as bug [UE-6121] so that we can investigate it.

I have a fix for this pending - it appears to be a driver bug on some Intel GPUs that we can work around until it is fixed. We’ve informed Apple about it too. At present I’m not sure which version will ship with the fix, but I’m going to try and get it in 4.7 since this is a pretty nasty artefact.

I was able to reprouce this in 4.6.1 build and have confirmed the fix while testing with 4.7.0 Preview 2 - 4.7.0-2397709+++depot+UE4-Releases+4.7

OS: Mac OSX Mavericks 10.9.5
PROCESSOR: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
MEMORY: 8GB Ram 1600 MHz DDR3
GRAPHICS: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB (forced to this using gfxCardStatus)

This has been fixed as part of UE4 4.7.
