[Critical] The engine is not launched when pressing the "Launch" button inside the launcher

Branch: ‘Binary’ build

Build: 4.0.1

After loading the Unreal Engine Launcher and pressing the “Launch” button, nothing happens. I used to receive a crash in UE4Editor-Cmd.exe with the “Sorry for the inconvenience” callstack. This change occurred after briefly trying to connect from at the wifi at mcdonalds.

Note: I cannot upload dxdiag or logs because my computer does not have access to the internet

Repro Steps

  1. Load the Unreal Engine Launcher
  2. Either log in or press go offline
  3. Click the “Launch” button

100% Reproducibility

System specs:
Acer Aspire 4339
Windows 8.1
Intel Celeron
Intel HD Graphics
8 gigs of ram

Hi VFX,

We will most likely not be able to troubleshoot the particular issue you are experiencing if you are unable to share your logs. (although you could still easily share the .txt files from one computer to another by sending in an email).

I do have a question. If your development computer does not have an internet connection, how were you able to download the installer and the engine files?

here’s the thread that fixed it if you’re interested:

It’s cool. I found the answer to my problem in another thread about changing DLL files. I lugged my computer to my friends house and begged him to let me use his internet lol.
