Low graphic games with unreal engine 4

Hello ,

I just started digging into unreal engine 4. I started with the project that views from the top and played on the editor. The fps is quite low. My machine is not really good. I mean, I have Intel 4000hd and stuff. But I was planning to make a game that would run on very average computers. Is it possible to tweak unreal engine to run on low grade machines in the end ?

Hello logicaleak,

There is a settings menu called, “Engine Scalability Settings” located in the editor. I have attached an image as a reference to help you find it easier.

These settings will allow you to optimize how the engine will run on your own computer. Keep in mind, when you lower these settings, you will lose quality and reduce the effects of certain features of the engine. For example the ‘Effects’ and ‘Post Processing’ setting set to Low is very different than set to Epic.
