Why isn't 3Dconnexion supported?

Because I’m currently a computer animation student, which is also studying game design. I rely on the fastest methods. My workflow depends on the 3d mouse in order to navigate in any application without the learning curve.
Is this something you will consider implementing?

Same here we hope to see a plugin for our beloved 3D mouse asap!

I’d love to see that too - the SpaceMouse makes navigation so much more natural and easier…

Hi guys,

Today 3DConnexion visited my studio and we’ve had several conversations including why they should support Unreal Engine 4. They will investigate it now.
This said an impatient programer could make a basic plugin with the SDK they provide on their website.

Epic, let me know if you are interested to work with them directly, I can provide you the relevant contacts.

Chipping in here to add my voice, this needs to happen.

Add me to this list.

Cry Engine does support it out of the box. So… much… agility. It almost made me second guess blue prints.

Shifting perspectives with so much ease helps to think outside the box.

It is really nice in CE3.

I would love it if UE4 let you easily bind and unbind the mouse to a specific viewport, so that if you are not actively focusing the windows with the viewport you want to move, you can still look around in the viewport that you want.

Like say your making a shader graph, but you want to see it on a model in your main viewport, you could just use your 3d mouse and it will move the camera in that viewport without having to deselect the shader graph window.

This sounds really nice actually  Different settings for different viewports

+9 here, we have 9 developers moving our mmo game from unity to UE4 and our 3d mice are about to become useless.

Please support these mice

Hi I just wanted to give an update on this since it was originally mentioned on the forums by one of our developers.

https://forums.unrealengine.com/showthread.php?380-Support-for-Space-Navigator-3D-Mouse

I spoke with the dev yesterday and it’s something he will work on eventually, but right now there are some high priority features that are being worked on. There is no specific timeline for this though.

3DConnexion does offer their SDK so that anyone from the community can also develop the plug-in. With full source of UE4 this is certainly possible. Once the plug-in is created it can be submitted as a Pull-Request to be included with the engine.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Thank you!

Tim

Please implement this as soon as possible, I’m holding off on subscribing to Unreal Engine 4 until space navigator support is added. Thank you!!

3D connexion isn’t moving, how about we all support and chip in money for one motivated soul?

I chip in 100 USD through paypal for a working plugin. How about you?

Sure, I would chip in. Maybe not a 100, that’s more than I paid for my space navigator lol. But I would definitely contribute.

Definitely need to get this feature working. Every other software in our tool box supports a 3D mouse

Any news on this? Would be awesome if someone could pick this up +1 for me.

So sad this hasn’t happened yet.

@Furroy:

I’ve reached out to the developer who added support for UE3/UDK. He’s in the process of procuring one to see if he can work on this soon. This, however, is not a promise that it will be included and there isn’t an ETA. But this is something that he will look into adding.

Thanks!

Tim

Hey guys, apologies for the long delay. This is still on the radar. I will take a look at it this Friday/weekend. Stay tuned!

Awesome! Looking forward to hearing from you in/after the weekend
