[Request] Export Material/Graph Network As Image File

This has been something I’ve been looking for for a while but never thought to ask about it.

Sometimes when we want to share some of our work, particularly materials, we often have to screen shot the material network several times and slowly stitch the images together in Photoshop for the image to make sense to the end user, slowly building up a big canvas with the material network on it.

What I’m requesting, is a feature built into the various rocket graph editors that allows us to export an image of the graph window, but at full size with all the nodes visible. The system would essentially figure out where the most extreme nodes are in the material, maybe add a few pixels as a border just to be safe, then save the whole image out to a lossless image file, say .png or .tga format.

This should make sharing our networks much easier and quicker, and could be quite a good way to keep references to previously made materials if necessary, for backup/archival purposes.

Thanks

Hey James,

Thanks for your feedback! I have put in a request for an ability to output high resolution images from editor graphs. In the meantime, Luke’s comment about ExportText is a great way to share and archive your graphs. Hope that helps!

Best,

Ben Halliday

You can copy any objects in notepad and this gives you ExportText (aka T3D) that you can paste into notepad or the editor.

You’d probably have a much easier time archiving and sharing these than massive images. Alternatively, materials are also uasset files that can be saved and stored separately.

Has there been any news on this? I don’t even care if they are high resolution! I just want to see the entire graph as a single image document if possible.
