Can I use UE4 free content on other engines?

Havent checked yet what format your free content is, but is it allowed to convert any to be used in other game engines? (take models, textures, trees, shaders etc.) and use them in non-commercial demos or in commercial games? (but of course not for re-sale as assets)

#No

The content is already a huge gift to you, and it is UE4-specific content created not by you , but by Epic.

Show respect for Epic’s already amazing gift to you.

Epic’s content is their signature in this world.

Do not present their work to the world as if they did not make it!

(which is the impression people will have if you put it in a different engine and show it to the public)

Rama

I suggest you drop this point,

if you are just testing content in other engines, then make your own.

Respect the already huge amounts of Gift coming to you from Epic.

Couldnt edit the question after posting, it wouldnt be any commercial work, just testing content in other engine.

This doesnt clearly say about using the content non-commercially (and of course giving credit to makers)
"
The Unreal Engine ships with a lot of content, and more is available in the Marketplace. Can I use this freely in my products?

Yes, you can ship our content in your products using the Unreal Engine. However, you can’t sell or sublicense our content to other developers for use in their products, e.g. via web site or e-commerce mechanism built into a 3D development tool."

*continued:
code is of course protected:
"
Can I study and learn from the Unreal Engine code, and then utilize that knowledge in writing my own game or competing engine?

Yes, as long as you don’t copy any of the code. Code is copyrighted, but knowledge is free!
"

Rama’s point, and i agree with him fully, If you are granted this opportunity to work with and learn from their engine for a measly 19 dollars you should be ashamed to take their content and use it in another platform.

The question “Can” i is certainly a different one, and with full engine access you may be able to coerce the files out of their asset packages, but you shouldn’t.

yes, i have no problem if the license doesnt allow it (and i’m not planning to steal assets, just make a test how it would look in another engine), maybe i’ll better check from support for official answer. thanks!

There are free models, characters, animations all over the internet. I don’t get why you’d need specifically Epic’s content for this.

“maybe i’ll better check from support for official answer.”

there’s no need to insult Support with this question of yours

I suggest you mark this thread as answered

unless you want to insult all of us replying to you as well

This is a computer game industry, but there are people behind all of it, and you should honor and respect the hard work of those people.

Hi everyone,

We are consulting with our legal department and will respond to mgear’s question soon. There is no need for further discussion on this until then.

Thanks

Sorry for the delay in response on this. Under the EULA, you are not prohibited from incorporating assets provided by Epic as part of your subscription in a product using another engine. Per the terms, that product would then become a (defined term) Product, i.e. a product that incorporates some or all of the Licensed Technology. Therefore, if it were sold, unless a royalty exemption applied, royalties would be owed to Epic on that product.
