Steps in making an rts style grid

Hi, i have read the documentation on a* and the blueprint tutorials. So i don’t want anyone to give me the solution rather i would like to be pointed down the right direction as for the implementation so i may do it myself if possible.
If there is someone wit relevant experience who can highlight the areas of study i would need that would be most grateful. i have been told to just use a* but for a beginner how is that accomplished in blueprint?
examples i see are either unity or in C++ or python
