Can you turn off Realtime in UE4 as you could in UDK?

Dear Varomix,

#Realtime

regarding realtime itself I find it very surprising that you are not getting benefit from real time off.

Are you always moving around?

or you still get 98% after 2-3 seconds of inactivity in viewport + no real time?

#Wireframe

Do you get a GPU reduction if you switch to Wireframe mode?

I will usually keep the view in wireframe while I am doing non-level-editing stuff

Rama

That seems to be something on your end. Realtime off should help as Rama said. What is your gpu and is your driver up to date?

Hi
While running the editor I get 98% GPU usage all the time, even if I have the editor in the background or minimized
so I wanted to turn off Realtime like I used to in UDK, in UDK if you turn off Realtime the GPU usage is nothing only when you interact with the viewport it take off, makes sense and I love that, also is you minimize UDK while realtime is off, it stops using the GPU again.

In UE4 makes no difference on the GPU, Realtime ON, OFF, always uses the same amount of GPU 98%, which kinda worries me a bit if I’m going to be using 8 to 10 hours a days, that’s a lot of stress on my GPU.

EDIT: in UE4 while realtime is off and minimized it does stop using the GPU

So, am I missing something to get the same behavior as in UDK?

Thanks

No I’m not moving the viewport or anything is just sitting there
wireframe is the same thing no change, really weird right

GeForce GTX 550 Ti and yes I have the latest driver, and I’m testing both UDK and UE4 right now, it works for UDK and not for UE4

hehe even if I close the viewport the GPU is still in use

is the same in all modes man I tested them all no change, and as I said, UDK work as expected same machine side by side.

yea, really weird!

I am not sure what’s going on here

I get benefit from switching to wireframe, as well as real time toggle

What about Unlit mode? Since you have the latest driver i dont know what the problem can be. :\

Ok I found the issue
Seems like MSI Afterburner was messing with that some how I had the wrong Core Clock Speed there and that was the issue, I only really use it to pump the card fan a little higher to keep it cool.

So I restored the default Core Clock speed and now it works better, with realtime off GPU usage goes down to about 50% I like that while using the editor, I like that better.

Cheers!!
