Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Other Learning Options??

Hi,

I'm a professional Sound Designer interested in learning how to implement sound into games using the Unreal engine, are there any options to learn? I'm not a student nor a game designer and won't be releasing anything using the engine. I'd like to be able to obtain a license and use existing templates to practice on. I'm okay with negotiating a one time fee but a monthly subscription is too costly for me at the moment. I'm running Mac OSX 10.7.5. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks,

Hey producerbrianb-

Is it possible to pay the $19 subscription which will give you complete access to the latest version of the engine. When the month you paid for ends you are not obligated to continue the subscription however you will get to keep using the version of the engine you currently have. Then if you want to try a newer version later or test out new features down the line you can simply pay the subscription then to reactivate your account.

Cheers

Please note, though, that Unreal Engine 4 requires OS X 10.9.2 or higher and a graphics card supporting OpenGL 3.3 (with OpenGL 4.1 required for all features supported on Mac) to run.

As far as I understand, you only need a current subscription if you want to have access to the engine updates or you are releasing a game. You could activate your subscription for a month, then put it on hold till you want to update to the latest version of the engine.
