Animation and Rigging Toolkit Problem with References?

I’m using the most recent version of ART in Maya 2014 and it looks like the inclusion of any reference in a Maya scene that is not an ART rig causes export problems.

All you seem to need to do is add an ART character rig for animation to a blank scene.
Then create a reference of something very simple. I am using a .mb with a single poly surface in it (a scene to animate in reference to.)

Pressing the export animation button on the ART animation interface will bring up this error:

Error: WindowsError: file S:/AssetSource/Maya_AnimationRiggingTools/MayaTools/General/Scripts\ART_exportMotion.py line 1048: 123

You can still export FBX’s but the list of sequences is missing. Exporting Anims won’t function at all.

Removing the extra reference will stop the error occurring and restore the list of export sequences.

While this can be worked around by importing your references, it does mean that updates to props or scenes don’t propagate to your animations.

Does anyone know a better work around?

Hey there!

I just tested and confirmed this. I am a derp.
The work-around, and the reason we never saw that here, is that we put all of our props and such in a folder in the Project directory, such as MayaTools/General/ART/Projects/YourProj/Props. I did something dumb and did a check on the reference node path to see if it was in MayaTools. I’ll get an update for that out asap, but in the meantime, the above should work!
