Creating a texture, doesn't look right

So I’m just curious. I am following a guide to create a texture, but the texture isn’t coming out. It just stays as a black orb and when I try and paint any of the layers they all are black aswell. Any idea on how to fix that??

This is the video I am following but my texture looks nothing like his.

It may have something to do with your material setup. Can you post a screenshot of your material network please?

  • Open up the landscape editor and switch to Paint mode.
  • Scroll down to Target Layers
  • Click on the arrow on the left side of each layer and then create a layer info for each of those properties.
  • Select the first layer and paint the whole landscape with it - you should be able to see the material appear now. And now you can select other layers and paint as you like.

This is a material, btw. Textures are those grass, rock, etc. images you use inside the material.

I like how in materials grass, gravel and rock look. Is their a way of using those pre-made materials instead of having to create your own material with multiple layers? I am trying to use grass as the main layer and then draw a road with gravel.

But when I add grass to the landscape material it doesn’t give you an option of making another layer so that you can draw another color, that’s why I thought you had to create your own texture with multiple layers.

I already added the layer info but I guess it required me to restart the editor to work. Although now when I paint the gravel or rock onto the grass it looks all distorted and leaves these weird black marks on the ground and sometimes doesn’t paint over the grass.Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Also when I was talking about the pre-made materials I was talking about this grass which looks way better. Imgur: The magic of the Internet
I was just wondering if I could use that grass and the rest of the pre-made materials(gravel and rock) since they look much more impressive then the one I created.
