When a scene tree parent node is copied/pasted in the components editor its children are not duplicated?

Unreal 4.5.1

This completely goes against my expectation as a life long user of computers!

It’s like if, when in a file explorer you copy and paste a well populated parent folder, the folder gets duplicated but the duplicate is empty! Really? What is the point of that?!

Now, you can multiply select and copy all parents and children at once, but on paste you get the objects with a flat structure - all information about the hierarchy is lost. So not so useful.

Hi ioJoss,

We have been unable to reproduce this on our end. Do you have steps that we can take to reproduce this on our end? Please keep in mind that a blueprint is a n individual object, the contents of which are not intended to act like specific folder filepaths but rather work off of an object hierarchy.

Hi ioJoss,

We have not heard from you in quite some time. I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing this error, please comment here with the requested information.

Well I’m having this issue. It’s not so much a bug, but rather a design issue… unless I’m missing something. Let’s say I’m creating a grid-like system and I copied up 17 cubes, making one column. Now I want to put those cubes under a folder and copy that folder to make my other columns. This functionality seems to not exist.

Hi BinaryEclipse,

Thank you for submitting a bug report. I have reproduced this issue and logged a report for it here. You can track the report’s status as the issue is reviewed by our development staff.
