Built a control rig with A.R.T. but character disappears when imported

Took an imported character from daz studio and constrained it to the art skeleton and everything goes smooth. Build the control rig and i get an invisible character with the rig controls visable.

Hi holmes360,

If you are using Maya 2014 or earlier I can take a look at the file and see what may be causing the issue if you would supply the project folder in a zip file. Otherwise, do you get this same issue with other character meshes? Can you reproduce this issue with a generic mesh you create yourself? Let me know and we will follow up from there.

Thanks

well i am using maya 2015 and i think the issues are somewhere in the skin weights. Delete the entire skeletal heiarchy from daz and bind the skeleton created in art i get a visable character but unfortunatly the skin deformations are way out of wack due to the loss of the skin weights. I will upload a file when i can I am currently working on it. I think there might also be an issue in the skin morphs exported from daz.

Ok I am going to answer my own question. It is a bug in maya 2015. I tried everything over in maya 2014 works fine for now. I can at least see my rig. Now ill play with it for a bit and see if i find anything else.

Correction… Still having the same issue. The first time i attempted to build the rig it worked i could see the mesh but could not import into the animation it would crash maya everytime. now when i try to create another rig they all go invisible again. Plus i’m having an issue with the deformation controld and selecting paint tools. This is with maya 2014 and 2015 both are experiencing the same problems.

Hi holmes360,

We cannot troubleshoot the character from Daz Studio as they may have problems of their own.

Have you tried this with a “rough” character you created in Maya 2014? If so, if you are experiencing the same kind of issues you can supply your files for us to examine further.

Thanks
