Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Next-Gen Character Model Sample for UE4?

Hi Everyone,

Major apologies if this question has already been answered! Although my searches have turned up nothing as of yet.

I was wondering if Epic Games or the folks at Unreal Engine actually supply a realistically-rendered Human character for reference in-engine?

I'm developing a 3rd person game that is really trying to push the visuals of the characters and bring forward that life-like presentation. At the moment I'm struggling with setting up my materials properly despite having gone through various tutorials on the Material system. Lots of tutorials don't really cover the SSS shader recently added in 4.5.

Coming from CryEngine I used to reference a supplied character model (with skin shader SSS etc) and examine his material set up etc to get better results for my own characters.

Is there such a character available for reference with UE4?

Does anyone have any information on this? Or could perhaps refer me to something that may aid me in this issue?

Many thanks in advance!

Hey MIWI -

We have added a Level in the Content Examples project called Skin Rendering which covers the ways to use the SSS in UE4 to achieve Skin Shading.

Thank You
