Very bright textures

Hi, i’m working on a landscape using exclusivly statics meshes (= not landscape tech), and i’m having trouble using material for it : my textures looks very bright in any lighting presset… Seems like they are losing some intensity and saturation. I’m using Dynamic lighting, with LPV enabled and GI (not sure thought i did i right).

Here a pic to show you editor vegetation -VS- my landscape.

The material consist of a simple vertex color blending shader copied from the wiki. I’m multiplying the result of the blend by a greyscale AO.

Any input on what i did wrong ?

Hello Em’,

From the image you provided, I am having some trouble seeing the issue you are reporting. If you are using an LPV and are unsure if you set it up properly, I would go back and make sure you have it set up correctly in order to eliminate this as the solution to your visual issue. This could be what is throwing off the colors of some of your textures because it deals with Global Lighting of your entire scene.

On another note, could you also provide me with some screenshots of your landscape material editor set up, or whichever material you are experiencing the desaturation and loss of intensity with? This might be the cause of your issue, and I know of a few ways to individually increase or decrease the brightness and contrast of your texture samples.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

Try saving the texture as a 8-bit .tga file and use the 8-bit version.
Somehow 16 Bit png files are an issue I have not solved for myself.
