Crashes on load since this morning, 4.6

Hi

Since this morning, 4.6 crashes on load. I can not launch a level or even just the editor. Levels get to 35% and crash with memory issues - over 4.2gb trying to be used. Even the Editor by it self, crashes with same issue (Ram).

I am downloading and re-installing to see if that fixes the issue.

UE 4.5.1 loads as normal only using 290k Ram

EDIT: I am not sure if my copy went to 4.6.1 or not, but noticed 4.6.1 when I re-installed.

Fresh install 4.6.1. Crashes, So I would say it was when it went from 4.6 to 4.6.1.

Same reason (Ram), but there was 600mb of spare ram when it crashed for Ram reason.

4.5.1 Works, 4.7.0 Preview Works, Just not 4.6.1

Currently have 4.7 running my level and only using 2.6gb in total (Computer). and 4.7 only using 370k

Tried again, only 4.6.1 not working. 4.5.1 and 4.7 working like a charm. Kinda like 4.7, seem to run better and I doubt there is a reason for it. It just seem to.

4.5.1 using about 500-600k KB, 4.6.1 - 3GB+ And I do not know what Github or Binary means. How do I tell that? All I do is open launcher and double click the photo.

If you open your task manager when attempting to load the engine, do you see a difference between 4.5.1 and 4.6.1 in the amount of memory being used? We have seen a lot of users who have memory problems and I believe they may be related. Additionally are you using a github build or binary from launcher?

Edit: Are you getting this error message?

Github is the method people use to get the bleeding edge/master build. If you are going through the launcher you have the binary build. How long does the editor typically take to crash when you attempt to open it in 4.6.1?

Can you post your dxdiag here so I can take a look. We have several users reporting what may be similar scenarios and I would like to see if there are any similarities between the computers. Thank you!

Can you post your dxdiag here so I can take a look? You can find this file by doing to the following:

go to Start
Type in “cmd” into searchbar
Run command prompt program that appears
type dxdiag into program and press enter

Save this as a text document and upload to the answerhub so I can see it. I want to see if your computer matches the computer of another user with similar errors appearing. Additionally, try verifying your engine build. If you go into the launcher and go to the library, there should be a button under each launcher version you have, open that dropdown menu and press “verify” to see if any files were corrupted or missing. If they are they should be automatically replaced. Thank you!

I know it runs a little slow, but Have been using it fine for 2+ months and 4.7 & 4.5.1 does not have same issue. It was just one morning it decided to use all 4GB and crash.

I will continue on using 4.7, that runs fine.
