Widget 3D component not rendered in device (Android)

Hi,

I try to use a widget 3d Component and it does not render in device. It works in PIE and editor preview but not in android device (samsung galaxy s3).

The widget is clickable tho, but it does not render. I have tried changing the setup but it still does not work: two-sided, set to opaque, increasing translucency sort, etc. No way :frowning:

Howdy Dredok,

Thank you for posting this issue. I am going to need a bit more information from you on this issue. I have attempted a repro of this issue locally on version 4.6.1 and have not seen any rendering problems. I have reported an issue in the past about the UMG showing up flipped when deployed to a mobile device on 4.6.1. This issue has been resolved in our newest internal build. I am unsure as to when this with become a public release but the issue has been resolved.

If this is not this issue that you have been seeing, would be able to clarify a bit more on what is occurring? Is there a list of simple repro steps that I can use to recreate this issue? What version of UE4 would you be using when you see this issue occur and is that build a binary build or a source build?

Any additional information on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a great day!

hi,

I have seen this issue in 4.6.0 version. It could be the widget was flipped, not sureā€¦

I can tell how was the composition of my blueprint:
I was using some PaperSprite components, then, a Widget component which had a higher Y-value (in order to appear in front). Then in PIE it did show but not in device. The widget was clickable tho

I just tried another repro and have been unsuccessful with seeing any errors besides the flip of the screen once deployed. Would you be able to test this issue on the 4.6.1 version of UE4? Being that 3D widgets are currently experimental, I want to check and see if this has been resolved in the hotfix.

Thanks!

Howdy Dredok,

Just wanted to check in with you and see if you had the to upgrade to a newer version of UE4 and test the issue? If the issue is still occurring, would you be able to provide a couple of steps that I may use to reproduce this issue.

I was able to try out the sprite with the UMG and still no errors where seen.

Thanks and have a great day!

Yep, Iā€™m sorry, I havenā€™t had the to upgrade. I do not want go forth and back between UE4 versions because it takes so long to compile etc.

Iā€™m not blocked by this (not using widget 3d anymore). But I can not test if the issue is fixed in 4.6.1 or not.

Hey Dredok,

I have been looking at previous Bug reports and there are a couple of reports that have been entered for 3D widgets rendering not showing on mobile devices, A fix for this issue have been fixed for the 4.7 release. I am unsure as to when this release will be available for download but i will be sure to keep you updated.

If ok with you, I would like to resolve this issue as a report has been previously entered. Please let me know when you get the .

Thanks and have a great day!

Thatā€™s okey. I hope it will not get buried in the pile of UE4 answerhub.
I encourage you guys to provide public access to bug reports in some way (i know its on the roadmap but I would give it higher priority, we would disturb less you guys)

Just to clarify with you, would you be using a material on the 3D widget? If not, how do you have your Widget setup? I have been using the Documentation of how to create a 3D widget.

Yes, I was using a material with the widget3d. As I said Its not ā€œan issue for meā€ because I found a workaround but its a real issue (not working in android device in version 4.6.0)

Hey Dredok,

I have double checked the reports and the issues that are occurring for you are listed in them. I have double checked our internal build and it is showing the material when it is used in the 3D widget. There is also an report in for the Widget showing flipped when deployed to mobile. I will be sure to keep you posted if I see any moment being made with resolving these issue.

We are planning on making our site available to the public (as you saw on trello). As of this time, that time is unknown but I will be sure to keep you posted on that as well.

Thanks and have a great day!

Was it fixed? I have the same issue in 4.9.
Widget 3D component still not rendered in Android device.

Hey GenMind,

I just tested this out in 4.9.2 on a and I have not ran into any trouble with the 3D widget component not rendering. Could you please explain further on what is happening for you?

Thanks!

Hi, I have also encountered this issue. But it only happens for Samsung Phones (Note 3 and Note 4). However all it was doing was rendering two Yes and No buttons in a UMG widget. Both Buttons are rendered as an Image with a texture. The No Button shows but the Yes button is not visible on the Samsung devices. On the Nexus, there is no problem. Has anyone encountered this problem ?

Almost the same here. It works fine on Nexus, but in the case with Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 it is not rendered at all.

Hey Everyone,

I have noticed a trend with Samsung devices. I have tested in 4.9.2 and 4.10.0. I have submitted UE-23707 to our Developers. I will update you as soon as I receive an update on this bug report.

Thanks!
