Im so sick of the foliage tool, ive been using it trying to populate an 8k*8k world but its becoming such a chore. It creates gaps between painted foliage and the only way to fix it is resize to perfectly fit the gap, doing this with grass is the worst thing in creation and i have no idea if there is a fix ive asked a million times but nothing.
I am thinking of moving over to cryengine 3 or unity, they both have way better foliage painting. honestly i love unreal engine but the simple fact that painting foliage has becoming a nightmare has really put me off.
please give me a reason not to swap over before i completely lose my mind.
Why dont you use a smaller brush? It will give you a better and more natural result + you dont have the problems with the gaps
Reasons why you shouldnt swap to another engine:
awesome community
monthly updates with cool features
in my opinion the engine is easy to use in comparison to Cryengine or Unity
awesome conditions (20$ and 5% is nothing for a AAA engine)
when you make suggestions, they will add them to their list
blueprints!!!
some foliage tool improvements will come in the next updates (I’ve added this info to the folder support feature request entry (TTP#324090)) → make sure to bump the thread so that others also post their opinions/suggestions
Typically you get better results with smaller brushes to control where you want the foliage to show up. However, another option is to adjust the density of both the paint (top of the foliage mode) and the density within each individual mesh you are using. This affects how much of a specific mesh is placed within the area you have designated. Specifically if you alter the density and radius within the specific meshes, you are determining the amount of specific meshes and how much space must be between individual meshes. You can find a lot of information about our foliage system here:
Hey, I use 4.6.1 and I usually use the biggest brush size and everything else is default except culling is starting at 100 and ends at 150, would you recommend something else?
