UMG Tutorial Project crashes on startup

Hi guys,

I thought this might be important to you - in case it’s not, just ignore it

I followed your UMG video tutorial series to the end, then closed the project. When I opened it again today, it crashed on startup, giving me an error which is somehow linked to the “NewPickup” class.

I think I stayed pretty close to the instructions in the video although I can not guarantee that I changed absolutely nothing. Logfile is attached.

Best regards,

Hello ,

I have a couple of questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you tell me what tutorial it was that you were using? (Could you provide a link?)
  2. Can you provide the errors that you are receiving?

Hi Rudy,

it was your new “UMG Inventory” tutorial series (- YouTube). I am afraid, however, that I can not provide any more errors besides the file I already attached above, as the project just crashed on editor startup with the very same error that is also given in the log.

I deleted the “NewPickup” class in the explorer and was subsequently able to open up the project again without errors.

Hello ,

I was unable to reproduce this issue on my end. I am glad that you were able to get your project open. Were you able to rebuild the class that you had to take out? If so, are you receiving the same issue?

Hello ,

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you.

Oops! Sorry, totally forgot about that! I’ll attach the class that crashed my project (NewPickup.uasset). I was not able to try anything else with this class, as the editor always crashes immediately on startup when the class is in the project.

As this is only the tutorial UI project, this is not a real problem for me  I just wanted to report in case the roots of this were somehow connected with the tutorial itself.

Sorry again for keep you waiting!

Hello ,

Thank you for your blueprint, I was able to reproduce the issue on my end. I have written a report (UE-7686) and I have submitted it to the developers for further review. I will provide updates with any pertinent information as it becomes available. Thank you for your time and information.

Make it a great day
