4.7 Editor Crashes when Editing/Deleting Widget Animations

I’m not quite sure how I managed to crash it this time, but I was editing widget animations for a previous bug report, renaming and deleting animation tracks when I got this crash.

When you renamed the animation track, had you re-referenced it or was it not referenced anywhere beforehand?

It was not referenced anywhere.

Do you receive any warnings or error messages?

No, I was just doing add/rename/delete of anim tracks trying to repro the other bug where it won’t let you reuse a prev anim name. No warnings, just crashed.

Try re-verifying your editor. If you go to the launcher>Library you should see a dropdown context menu under your engine version. Press the dropdown arrow and select “Verify”. What this will do is check your engine to see if any files were damaged or missing and replace them.

Well it just updated a new version of 4.7 preview today, so it should be considered verified after that, yet?

The purpose of the verification is to make sure everything installed correctly. If you continue to experience errors after updating to preview 3 it may be a good idea to go ahead and run it to be safe, if that does not work you may have to uninstall/reinstall the editor.

Hi ,

I am going to mark this as answered for tracking purposes. I have entered a bug report for your crashes, as reported here:

I believe that your specific crashes are all being pulled from the same general error, which appears consistently throughout your crash logs. If you run into any more crashes please don’t hesitate to upload them so we can try to get to the root of what is occurring. Thank you!

Hi,
I’m actually having the same problem with the editor crashing with no warnings when I’m trying to delete a widget anim…
I’ve done the verifying procedure but nothing changed.
Any solution yet ?

Cheers

Hi ,

Unfortunately, the report that was made was closed as not-reproducible in a later build.

  • What engine version are you currently using?
  • Can you post your crash logs and callstack here so I can take a look?
  • What steps are you taking to reproduce this error on your end?
  • Does this occur in a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project?
