Why am I getting this "Plugin 'WindowsDeviceProfileSelector' failed to load" error?

Hello All,

so I’m new to Unreal Scene and trying to get up and running. I’ve followed instructions for setting up and build source. I’m able to successfully build project, so I’m not sure what next step here is, any assistance is appreciated.

Whenever I try to run engine by double clicking on “UE4Game.exe” and I get following message:

Plugin ‘WindowsDeviceProfieSelector’ failed to load because module ‘WindowsDeviceProfieSelector’ could not be found…

if you are on windows just download unreal engine application launcher it fixes everything well mostly. and if not can you provide log file for engine .?

You can try to manually launch editor (UE4Editor.exe). Does that work for you? I’m getting that error myself, but by doing Ctrl-F5 from VS to launch editor…

My build config is Win64 Development (not Development Editor or some such).

When I set up my engine, I used this tutorial. Which instructions are you using?

As LALELiLU suggested, please try using UE4Editor.exe instead of UE4Game.exe.

I ended up blowing everything away and starting fresh and launching UE4Editor.exe as you sugested. Everything works well now. Thanks

I am having this issue with a packaged game. Have you guys ran into this issue while trying to run a packaged game?
