Hey megazord,

Have you tried uninstalling Launcher on your second system, redownloading it and reinstalling it? If you still have same issue after reinstalling Launcher, let us take a look at your Launcher log and we’ll see what we can do. Your log file will be located here: c:\users\YOUR_USER\appdata\local\unrealenginelauncher\saved\logs

Thanks!

Hey ,

So attached is log file, I tried uninstalling and re installing and did not work. would i be able to put all files onto a hard drive and drag and drop onto a new computer and have it work on that? link text

Unfortunately no, you can only install engine through Launcher.

I’ll get one of Launcher guys to take a look at this for you.

thank for responding so quickly on this. here is what i am getting

any info about this?

Hi megazord25, You’ve got us pretty baffled over here! Are both of your computers running Windows?

Could you try changing your account password to something 10 characters long, with at least one capital letter and one number, but without any special characters? After that change, try to logout and log back in from your desktop, and try to login to your laptop as well.

Let me know if that makes any difference. Sorry you’re having trouble!

@megazord25

We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.

Thank you.

Sorry for late reply, been busy with work. But I am still getting same info logging in

I am getting same error.

Can you confirm that you attempted Eric’s suggestion, and that both of your computers are running Windows?

While I have not solved problem, my question is this: I installed program some place other than default location. Could this have something to do with problem that both megazord and myself are having? I’ve not yet uninstalled and reinstalled but I am curious as to whether megazord installed in default directory.

On my Desktop I installed it to “D” Drive, On my laptop I cant even log in to install UE4. Both are using Windows. Windows 8 on desktop and windows 7 on laptop

Interesting. I installed to my D drive also. I’m going to reinstall to default drive and see what happens.

Problem solved.
Today I installed in program default location. It worked without a hitch. It appears that, at least on our machines, installing program anywhere other than default location gives us login errors. It’s not a big issue but I had one drive allocated for graphics development so it’s more of a personal organization issue but it also makes me wonder what else is going on under hood. Still, as long as I can learn and create, I’m not that concerned but I will be closely monitoring my system for anomalies for here on out.

Perhaps others have had this issue as well and it was noted in support section. I don’t know, I didn’t check. It was my 1st go-to measure as problems like this are not new. I’ve noticed this issue popping up with other programs for about 18 years on nearly every version of windows.

@EricNewman

I could not authenticate. It seems launcher can’t accept too long passwords. My password was 20 characters long (using a password generator), I used it fine on website, but in launcher it did not work. I shortened password and it now works fine.

solution is either for user to shorten their password or for Epic to fix this in launcher. My opinion is it should be fixed in launcher, because if password is accepted on website it should not give user any problems after install.

@megazord25

I am reviewing older issues and I wanted to follow-up to see if your issue was ever resolved. Were solutions provided by Tephladon or Denny of any use to you?

I am marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes, unless we hear back from you otherwise.

Thanks
