Documentation for shooter game?

Is there any official documentation for the shootergame sample except the in code documentation?

It is somewhat possible to understand what is happening, but its not clear WHY it is done that way for most of the things.

For ex. why was the engine class extended?
why are there blank blue prints with just a capsule component?

some well done documentation for the sample would be awesome , mostly I want to know the flow of control!
